Help & FAQ
Answers about your account, profiles, synchronization, teams and automation.
Getting started and account
What is TabGecko?
TabGecko manages separate browser profiles, proxies, browser settings and automated workflows. Profiles can be organized with groups, tags and notes and assigned to a team.
Which operating systems and browsers are supported?
The desktop app is available for Windows x64 and supports Chromium and Firefox browser kernels. Install the required kernel in TabGecko before starting a profile. Desktop releases for macOS and Linux are not currently available. More information
Do the website and desktop use the same account?
Yes. Sign in with the same account on the website and in the desktop app. Registration is available by email or Google. Email registration requires confirmation. Local API tokens are separate and do not replace account sign-in.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Free and Premium differ in their profile, daily launch and team limits. The pricing page lists the current allowances. Your account shows your current plan and recorded usage; Premium access can be activated with a gift code. More information
Web app and cloud synchronization
Can I use the web app while the desktop is closed?
You can sign in, view available account and workspace data and use supported server-side management functions. Starting browser profiles, controlling running browsers and other local actions require a connected PC client. If one is needed, the web app prompts you to start or download it.
How does the website connect to my PC?
Start the desktop app and sign in with the same account as on the website. The web app automatically looks for an available authorized client. Its connection indicator shows whether the PC client is connected. Keep the app running for local browser actions.
Does signing in automatically synchronize every profile?
No. Cloud synchronization depends on the profile storage settings and group policies. Enabled profiles can transfer encrypted profile data between your devices. Changes are uploaded after a profile is closed normally; leave the client connected until the transfer is complete.
What happens if two devices change the same profile?
Conflicting versions are not silently merged. Resolve the reported conflict and choose which version to keep before continuing. Avoid using the same cloud profile simultaneously on multiple devices and wait for transfers to finish before switching PCs. More information
Profiles, groups and proxies
What is kept separate between browser profiles?
Profiles use their own browser data, including cookies and website storage, and can have individual proxy and browser settings. Separation does not guarantee anonymity or acceptance by a website: the account you use, the network and your actions can still identify you.
What can I configure for a whole group?
Group defaults include start pages, browser options, extension sets and managed bookmarks. They take effect the next time an assigned profile starts. Removing a group override allows the profile’s own setting to apply again.
Does TabGecko provide proxies?
You add your own proxies or those from your provider. TabGecko manages proxy assignments and groups and can test connectivity and report detected IP and location data. A configured proxy is not a guarantee that a destination website will accept the connection. More information
Can I import existing profiles or cookies?
Profile imports support CSV, XLSX and supported AdsPower TXT exports, with a preview and column mapping. Legacy XLS files are not supported. Profile settings, cookies and complete profile packages are different import types; importing a table does not by itself transfer all browser data. More information
Can I restore deleted profiles or earlier versions?
Profiles in the trash can be restored until they are permanently deleted according to the configured retention period. Available cloud history versions can also be restored. Keep separate backups for important data; permanently deleted data is not guaranteed to be recoverable. More information
Automation and integrations
What can I automate with RPA?
RPA combines supported browser actions into workflows and provides schedules and execution records. Check a workflow on a test profile before applying it more widely. Website changes can require adjustments, and scheduled local browser actions need the desktop app and required profiles to be available. More information
How does the Synchronizer differ from cloud synchronization?
The Synchronizer sends supported actions from a control profile to selected running target profiles and offers window arrangement. Cloud synchronization transfers stored profile data between devices. These are separate functions; the Synchronizer does not upload your profile data to another PC. More information
Can I connect scripts or MCP clients?
Yes. API & MCP in the desktop app provides the local address and token management. Assign only the permissions an integration needs. Local API requests require a running, signed-in desktop app; controlling browser pages also requires a profile started with API control enabled. More information
Will existing AdsPower scripts work unchanged?
TabGecko provides an optional compatibility interface for supported AdsPower-style routes. It does not implement every external API feature. Check the documented routes and test your script; use the native TabGecko API for new integrations where possible. More information
Teams and extensions
Can I restrict which profiles team members can use?
Team management provides roles, user groups and access assignments for profile groups. Grant only the required access and review it when responsibilities change. A member’s available operations also depend on their current role and the team’s allowances.
What is the difference between sharing and transferring a profile?
Sharing keeps the original profile. A transfer archives the original only after the receiving side has confirmed acceptance. The receiving team, permissions and available quotas are checked; wait for the confirmed completion before removing any separate backup. More information
Can I use my own browser extensions?
Yes. TabGecko supports catalog and store imports as well as supported local extension packages, with profile and group assignments. Extensions must match the browser engine. Firefox also imposes its own signing requirements for normal browser windows.
Why does an extension need approval?
Managed mode requires approval for the specific extension version and checks its stored contents before use. Changed packages must be reviewed again. Approval is not a malware scan or a guarantee of safety: an extension with permission to read a website can access that site’s data.
Updates and troubleshooting
Where can I find updates and release notes?
Use the app’s Updates area or the website download page for the current installer. The Changelog lists published versions and their changes directly on this website. Browser kernel updates are managed separately from app updates. More information
How are app updates checked?
The app verifies signed update metadata and checks the downloaded installer against it. A failed verification blocks the update. Download TabGecko from the official website and do not bypass a reported integrity error.
What should I check if a profile does not start?
Check that the PC client is connected, your account is signed in, the required browser kernel is installed and the assigned proxy works. Review any extension approval warning and the profile launch log. Include the app version and the exact error when contacting support, but never send passwords, cookies or API tokens. More information
Do the product images show the actual app?
Yes. The previews are captured from the TabGecko interface with neutral example data. The language and theme follow the website selection. Your view can differ because of saved columns, permissions or the installed version.
